My Soul to Take, Rachel Vincent

I'm submitting this book to the 2011 Debut Author Challenge, hosted by The Story Siren.

Review: Kaylee Cavanaugh thinks she is going crazy - she has this panic attacks where she starts screaming, plus they come with a feeling that someone in her vicinity is going to die.

Then she founds out the truth about herself and her family, and she tries to stop this strange deaths - young girls that drop dead without explanation. A book that is a mix of paranormal and mystery, but completely irresistible.

This book left me mesmerized. I liked how Vincent writes, I loved her worldbuilding - the development of the bean sidhe and Netherworld mythology is amazing, and I felt as they actually existed - and I loved the story, as I was enwrapped in the very beginning until the very end.

The main character, Kaylee, is quite interesting. Her "voice" leads us through the book's events without being whiny, even though everything happens to this girl. Other characters that popped out of the page - well, everyone? To mention a few - Nash, Tod, Kaylee's uncle and father, Emma and aunt Val. I look forward to further meet them all in the following books.

One last thing - the last revelation about Kaylee - to me it was quite obvious, as Rachel Vincent gives away early on the clues to figure out said revelation. Apart from that, I can't find any complaints about this book. Did I mention I loved it?

  1. Mitologia? Tem mitologia este livro? Oh god, must buy. Like, right now.

(estás a ler o Great and Terrible Beauty! - eu gosto de constatar o óbvio xD)

    (Estou a ler o Great and Terrible Beauty e a gostar! ^^)
