Ao folhear o álbum do artista de tatuagens, vê uma que sabe que tem de ser sua. Só não sabe que ao escolhê-la vai entrar no mundo das fadas, seres tão belos como maléficos.

Este livro manteve a minha opinião acerca desta série. Continuo a gostar bastante dela. Penso que é porque a história se desenvolve um pouco como os contos de fadas à antiga, quando o Lobo Mau morria, e a Branca de Neve era sufocada, etc. - neste livro acontecem ou já aconteceram coisas más, terríveis mesmo, às personagens.
A personagem principal, no início do livro, está completamente aterrorizada e paranóica com uma coisa que lhe aconteceu, mas o seu envolvimento com o mundo das fadas acaba por mudá-la, e ela sai no final do livro mais sábia, penso eu. Num mundo em que muitas histórias são atenuadas para não traumatizarem as criancinhas, é refrescante ler um livro em que isso não acontece.
O prólogo do livro passa-se ao mesmo tempo que o início do livro anterior (Wicked Lovely - Amores Rebeldes), mas o resto da história é cronologicamente posterior ao mesmo. Algumas personagens voltam a aparecer, como Aislinn, Seth e Keenan, mas tomam um lugar secundário de modo a que algumas personagens mais secundárias do livro anterior tomem agora o lugar principal - Leslie, Irial ou Niall.
A autora desenvolve mais um pouco a sua versão da mitologia féerica, particularmente no que concerne a Corte das Trevas. São-nos apresentados alguns personagens curiosos (Ani, Tish, Gabriel, Rabbit) e achei piada ao título do próximo livro - Frágil Eternidade. Não sei porquê, acho que tem alguma musicalidade.

She just doesn't know that be choosing it she will enter the faerie world, with beings so beautiful yet so cruel.
This book maintained my opinion about this series, and I'm still liking it. I think the main reason is because the story reminds me of the old fairy tales, when the Big Bad Wolf died, and Snow White was suffocated, etc. - in this book bad, terrible things happen, or have happened to the characters.
The main character in the beginning is absolutely terrified and paranoid about something that happened to her, but her entrance to the faerie world will change her, and she comes out wiser, I think. In a world where many stories are toned down to avoid traumatizing kids, it's refreshing to read a book where this doesn't happen.
The prologue happens at the same time as the previous book (Wicked Lovely), but the rest of this book happens after Wicked Lovely. Some characters reappear, like Aislinn, Seth and Keenan, but they are secondary to the characters that take the main place now: Leslie, Irial or Niall.
The writer further develops the faerie mythology, especially where the Dark Court is concerned. Some interesting characters are presented (Ani, Tish, Gabriel, Rabbit), and I love the title of the following book - Frail Eternity. I don't why, it just has some musicality in it.

Gostei muito da opinião - a comparação com os contos de fadas à antiga é uma excelente comparação.
ResponderEliminarTambém gosto bastante da série "Wicked Lovely". Apesar de ter gostado um pouquinho mais do primeiro livro, este também me fascinou e mal posso esperar por "Frágil Eternidade".
