The title is pretty self-explanatory. All you have to do is create an alternative cover for a book. You can either draw it or use an existing picture or you can photograph a cover with things around the house like pets, action figures etc. It's totally depends on you. Just be original.
Okay, this is such a nerdish thing to do, but I was a bit uninspired to do this challenge, and then I started thinking about Matched, by Ally Condie, since I'm reading the trilogy this book belongs to. And then I figured I wanted to do something simple, because I'm a noob with image manipulating programs and then I started to think about what could represent the Match aspect of the story. And I came up with this:

It's a Möbius strip. I did warn this was nerdish. But this mathematical and geometrical object is perfect for the story. It has a sense of oneness, so it could represent the Match (as in, perfect match) aspect of the story. But it also has a way of making you start in one place, go through the strip, and end up in the same spot you started in, making you feel trapped, as the characters in the story are, trapped by the Society. And yet, this strip is versatile, and can become many other things - which would represent the element of change in Cassia's story. In a way, it's really perfect for the story... Ah, well, it's way too late for me to get philosophical, I'll shut up now.

  1. Wow that's actually really clever! :-) Way more thought put into it than into mine anyway, haha! Great cover!

    1. Thank you! When I started to brainstorm ideas for Matched, this one just sneaked up on me and stuck with me, until I realized it was kinda of a perfect fit for the book. :)

  2. I love how you thought outside of the box for your cover challenge! It looks like it would make an awesome alternate cover for Matched, so great job!

    1. Thank you! I guess I wanted to couple the scientific and the bookish sides of me, so this was a good challenge to do it. :D
