So, I ask you Bouters, what music goes with your favorite books?  Give me a soundtrack or an album for a book you love.  You can make it as simple or as complicated as you want to!  Is there one album that you feel encapsulates your reading experience?  Or is there a different song for every chapter?  Tell me about it!
I listen to music a lot while I'm reading, but I usually just associate one song with one book, not a whole album, with one exception: Forsaken, by Jana Oliver, book 1 in the Demon Trappers series. I was listening to Kelly Clarkson's album All I Ever Wanted while reading that book, and the two were forever linked for me. I associate mainly 4 songs of the album with the book, because they seem to describe well Riley's journey through the book - her relationship with Beck, what happens to her dad and the aftermath of that, and the pain and the struggle Riley has to go through:
  • My World Would Suck Without You
  • I Do Not Hook Up
  • Cry
  • Save Me

Challenge: Alternate Titles Challenge hosted by Racquel & Sharon @ The Book Barbies
Alternate titles: what if you had the chance to rename a book? What would you title it? You could take your mission seriously and think of a new, better fitting title or you could do a silly new title. Just pick any book you've read and give it a new title OR you could pick a book you either read or haven't read and give it a new title based on the book's cover. Just get to renaming!
My suggestions:

  • Sand for Dune by Frank Herbert (an equally dry title to an awesome story)
  • Mary and James meet and make us swoon with their banter for A Spy in the House by Y.S. Lee (overly descriptive title but very accurate)
  • Winter is Coming for A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin (seriously, the Starks are a very unlucky family, but I'm sure they are very right, and so, this should be the title)
  • Awakening of the Preliator for Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton (accurate title, but I guess Preliator would have people scratching their heads)

  3. I love the idea for Game of Thrones.. Winter is Coming. Funny that because of the show everyone thinks that is the name of the series... when actually it's a Song of Ice and Fire!!

    1. Thanks! Yes, the show got everyone mentioning the books as the "Game of Thrones" series... it's a bit weird, lol. I guess it fits as a title for the series as well, because everyone wants that throne xD, but I prefer "A Song of Ice and Fire". :)
